Anecdote 4: びっくりしたアレルギー (A Surprising Allergy)

ある日、新しいレストランに行った。カレーを食べてから、口が痒くなった。喉も痛い。「何だろう?」と思った。でも、いつもカレーを食べるから、大丈夫だと思った。まだ食べたい!でも、友達が「もう食べない方がいい」と言った。

暫くして、病院に行った。先生が言った。「あなたはナッツのアレルギーがあります。」私はびっくりした!子供の時、ナッツを食べたことがある。でも、こんなことは一度もなかった!先生が「薬を飲んでもいいですよ」と言った。

それから、私はナッツを食べないことにした。でも、大好きなカレーを食べられないのは一番悲しい!

Grammar Used:

  • てもいい  (It’s alright to do something ~)
  • ことがある (has/have done something before ~)
  • いつも (Always / Usually (habitual action).)

てから

Meaning:

After doing ~, then ~ (used to indicate sequential actions)

Formation:

  • Verb (て-form) + から

Examples:
朝ご飯を食べてから、学校に行きます。
(After eating breakfast, I go to school.)

宿題をしてから、ゲームをします。
(After doing homework, I play games.)

Sentence from Anecdote:

Note:

  • This grammar emphasises that the second action happens only after the first action is completed.
  • It is different from た後で, which can mean “sometime after.”

てもいい

Meaning:

It’s OK to ~ / You may ~ (used for permission)

Formation:

  • Verb (て-form) + もいい

Examples:
ここで写真を撮ってもいいですか?
(May I take a picture here?)

水を飲んでもいいですか?
(May I drink water?)

Note:

  • This grammar is often used to ask for or give permission.
  • The negative form is てはいけない, which means “You must not.”

ことがある

Meaning: 

There are times when ~ / I have experienced ~

Formation:

  • Verb (た-form) + ことがある

Examples:
日本に行ったことがあります。
(I have been to Japan before.)

寿司を食べたことがありますか?
(Have you ever eaten sushi?)

❝子供の時、ナッツを食べたことがある。❞
(When I was a child, I had eaten nuts before.)

Note:

  • This grammar is used to talk about past experiences.
  • The negative form is たことがない, which means “I have never done it before.”

いつも

Meaning: Always; Usually (Indicates a habitual action)

Formation:

  • いつも + Verb (present tense) → Indicates something that regularly happens
  • いつも + Noun → Used for things that are always present

Examples:
私はいつも朝ご飯を食べます。
(I always eat breakfast.)

いつも元気ですね!

Note:

Meaning: The most; Number one (Used to express the highest degree of something)

Formation:

  • 一番 + Adjective → The most ~
  • Noun + が一番 + Adjective → [Noun] is the most ~

(This restaurant is the most delicious!)

夏が一番好きです。
(I like summer the most.)

Note:
